OLIVIA HARTZELL

Olivia Hartzell is a scientist and artist based in New York City.

Her scientific research is at the intersection of game theory, quantum theory, and computing. Her current work studies interactions facilitated by quantum technology, and addresses questions in fundamental physics using tools from multi-agent systems and structural estimation.

She holds a PhD in economics from Harvard University, an MA in economics from Harvard University, and a BA in economics and math from Columbia University, summa cum laude.

She is also a choreographer, following her previous career as a dancer with the Royal Ballet of Flanders, Pennsylvania Ballet, and Ballet du Capitole Toulouse, and she is a graduate of the Hamburg Ballet School. She worked with and performed in works by William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Alexander Ekman, Jacopo Godani, John Neumeier, Angelin Prejlocaj, among others, and performed an extensive repertoire of principal roles in works by George Balanchine and in the classical canon.
